Llandyrnog Reserves 1 - 1 Penmaenmawr Phoenix (23/02/08)

We welcomed Penmaenmawr Phoenix to Cae Nant on Saturday 23rd and having lost 4 - 0 to them a few weeks ago we expected a very hard game and also that they were unbeaten so far this season. I was pleased with our performace which gave us a valuble point, but we could have won it if we had put our several chances away. Danny Jones got our goal, after a fine move involving Stuart Vernon and Russ Moorcroft. We had a goal harshly ruled out by the refeere for offside on 80 mins but i am sure that Mark was not offside. We do not have a fixture next which is fustrating, but if we show the same commitment in the games to come we will get the right results and keep us in the top half of the league.

Reserves Round Up (16/02/08)

Having now played three games since the turn of the new year, we have picked up six points from a possible nine and things are going pretty well. Everyone is working hard and we are playing as a team. On the 19.01.08 we travelled up the coast to play Penmaenmawr Phoenix. Although we lost 4 -0 we gave a good performance in very windy conditions. If we had taken our chances we could have got something out of the game.

We were on our travels again the week after up to Llansannan. We won 3 - 0 with goals from Liam Jones, Tom Sharples and Emyr Jones. I was really pleased with the way we played in the first half, we passed the ball well and the movement was good. We had several clear cut chances to have won by a bigger margin, something that we need to work on in training possibly. A good performance was given by all and in particular Lee Mason, Tom Evans and Liam Jones who were making their debuts, and also Sam Crompton.
Unfortunately our game on the 9.02.08 away to Aston Park was called off due to the pitch being unfit.

We had a home fixture on Saturday 16.02.08 and we played Halkyn United Reserves. We secured a 2 - 1 win with goals from Liam Jones and Russ "Village"
Moorcroft. On a bumpy pitch we found it hard to get our passing game going and with Danny Jones having to go off with a nasty cut to his eye in the first ten minutes things had to be changed sooner rather than later. Liam Jones scored the first, following up on a shot by Stuart Vernon, and Russ Moorcroft got what turned out to be the winner again from a cross from Stuart Vernon.

Hopefully we will now get a good run of games to keep the momentum going.
